Matthew Maclear, Partner
As a solo practitioner, former gubernatorial appointee, circuit prosecutor, and civil litigator, Mr. Maclear has represented a wide spectrum of clients including the People of the State of California, state agencies, air and water districts, nonprofits, community groups, and business entities. As Assistant General Counsel for Cal/EPA, Mr. Maclear oversaw and managed investigations and litigation handled by agency counsel, Office of the Attorney General, and local prosecutors in addition to running an inspector training program, managing the statewide environmental complaint system, politically sensitive enforcement actions, amongst other duties. Prior to his appointment to Cal/EPA, Mr. Maclear served as a Circuit Prosecutor for seven years handling both civil and criminal environmental, consumer and worker-safety cases for over 20 California rural counties. Mr. Maclear received his juris doctorate from the University of Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 2000.
